Health Sector raises over 1bn towards Agaciro Fund

Kigali, 10th September 2012 : The Health Sector has contributed one billion two hundred thirty five million four hundred ninety one thousand nine hundred fifty (Rwf 1,235,491,950) to Agaciro Development Fund.

The fund is an initiative that was set up to raise more domestic resources to help accelerate economic development.

Speaking at the giveaway ceremony, the Honorable Minister of Health,
Dr. Agnes Binagwaho thanked all staff of the health sector for their contribution towards this noble cause adding that this is just the beginning.

"The staff of the health sector is not only committed to delivering quality health care to the population but also very committed to contribute to Agaciro fund. We are proud to support the country’s development process," Dr. Binagwaho said.

The Health Minister also added that the collection is a sign that Rwandans are ready to join hands together and lay foundation for the future emphasising that the sector’s staff are also committed to continue delivering good health services across the country.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Kampeta Sayinzoga also thanked the sector for the overwhelming sum which people gave voluntarily citing that the pace at which Rwandans are committing is encouraging.

So far the fund has collected over Rwf13 billion.
