National Reference Laboratory
The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) was established in July, 2003 by the Rwandan Government to develop institutional infrastructure, laboratory network, research and links at national and international level. The NRL structure comprises of the Managing Director (overall chief executive), and different Units reflecting the various core functions of the NRL. The NRL has built the national laboratory network and he is coordinating all the network activities. NRL has initiated decentralized policies to bring laboratory services closer to the population.
NRL collaborates with a number of internationally reputable organizations, universities and institutions in areas of epidemiology, public health and research. Through these collaborative ventures, NRL has received technical and financial support as well as opportunity to share information on its activities.
