Rwanda discharges the first four people who have recovered from COVID19


 

Rwanda has discharged four people who have recovered from COVID19. Rwanda has so far 102 confirmed cases of COVID19 of which four have recovered since the first case was confirmed on 14 March 2020.

“This is an important day for Rwanda and a great hope that our patients will recover and go back to their daily life. It brings great joy that some of our patients have recovered,” says Dr. Earnest Nahayo, Head of Kanyinya COVID19 Treatment Centre, a special facility for treating COVID19 cases.

“This is a sign for Rwandans that there is hope of getting well after catching COVID19. None of the patients is gravely ill and I am positive they will be well and returning home soon. I am grateful to the government of Rwanda as well,” says Gerald Muganambuga, a recovered patient.

  

At the occasion, the Director General of Rwanda Biomedical Center , Dr.Sabin Nsanzimana requested the general population to welcome the discharged people who are now very healthy and ready to continue their normal life. He also added that despite the great strides in treating and managing COVID19, Rwandans are reminded to be vigilant and practice prevention measures as a way of slowing down the spread of the highly contagious disease. Prevention measures include; hand washing with clean water and soap , social distancing of at least 1 meter, avoiding unnecessary movements and travels as well as reporting any suspected cases through 114, a toll free line.

COVID19 symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath.
