Rwanda celebrates World Health Day focusing on handling depression


Rwanda, has celebrated World Health Day, focusing on fighting depression. The World Health Day is celebrated across the world every year on 7th of April under the leadership of the World Health Organization to draw the mass people attention towards the importance of global health.

The Health Day raises public awareness about health issues. The day is an opportunity to mobilize actions around a specific health topic of concern to people all over the world. As the 7th April of each year, Rwanda commemorates the Genocide against the Tutsi; the celebration of the Health Day was postponed to June and October 2017.

This year the theme proposed by the WHO for the day is “Depression: Let’s Talk”.

Depression affects more than 350 million people worldwide of all ages, in all communities, and is a significant contributor to the global burden of disease.
