Drones for medical deliveries launched by President Kagame
President Paul Kagame has officially launched medical drones to deliver blood to 21 health facilities in Northern, Southern and Western provinces of Rwanda.
The launch of Zipline medical delivery drones in Rwanda marks the first delivery of its kind in the world.
The ceremony of launching the drones has been held today morning in Muhanga district, Southern Province.
Keller Rinaudo, CEO and co-founder of Zipline International which executed the project in collaboration with the government of Rwanda has said that the medical drones’ project will ease the process of availing blood to patients.
The Campaign of screening and treatment of malaria cases in 7 districts with high burden of malaria
From 17 th to 21st October 2016, RBC/ Mal & OPDD Division will conduct the campaign of screening and treating people who have malaria symptoms in top seven districts with high malaria cases . This intervention will be conducted with the aim of reducing the channel of malaria transmission and to avoid severe malaria cases and deaths.
Key activities planned in this campaign :
To test all patients with malaria symptoms using Rapid diagnostic test
To treat all patients with confirmed malaria parasites in the body
To assess roots causes of increase of malaria in their district, sector and villages
To sensitize people to combine all malaria preventives measures
To meet District authorities and analyse how this increase of malaria could be stopped
Place of campaign
The campaign is planned in following 7 top Districts : Nyamasheke (Macuba , Shangi and Gihombo Sectors ), Karongi (Gishyita and Mubuga) , Huye (Ngoma, Rusatira, Gishamvu, Rwaniro , Simbi , Huye, and Ruhanshya ),Nyanza (Busoro, Nyagisozi and Busasamana) , Gasabo (Nduba) , Ngoma (Zaza, Kibungo and Rurenge ) and Kayonza (Murundi) . These sectors selected for the campaign are the most affected by malaria.
Activities will be done at health center level
